Evaluation

Looking back on the project I now feel I have looked at drawing and drawing techniques in a completely different light. Although the title of the elective was 'Advanced Drawing' I initially thought I was going to be doing intricate small drawings and life drawings. James Quinn was extremely helpful in the fact that drawing is not just solely based on what you see in front of you but from the shapes and techniques you create whilst looking at something.
I now look at objects with a different sense. Looking at the works of Monica Gryzmala has inspired me to be able to draw in different ways other than the textbook pen, pencil and paper. Using electric tape at first seemed rather silly and I thought the outcome would have been more on a 3D scale.
If i was to do the elective again, I would look more into painting and painting techniques, as painting is something I would have always liked to be able to master.
Although the work I created is quite similar in the line structures, I feel that I have learnt and progressed a lot in my drawing techniques. Using sticks and paper to draw with is something I would have never done in the past and drawing in such a loose style is something i would have never adapted.
I am quite happy with my final piece although I wish there was more colour involved. The original image I taken the final piece from was somewhat painting like. The photo has textures and colours that can only be appreciated by simply looking at it, I feel that personally I haven't captured the full potential of the original photo and in a way I am quite unhappy at how bland my piece has come out.
